SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

In the event you are planning new electrical service from Valley Electric, you should contact one of our area offices in advance to verify the requirements and to determine any charges involved for your particular need. A meter base is available, at Valley Electric's cost, at one of our office locations.

The following is a summary of requirements by parish:

 

Caddo Parish - Contact Caddo Parish Public Works Permit Department at (318) 226-6469 for information.(New connects only) 

DeSoto Parish
- Must have a 911 address and a permit number from the DeSoto Parish Communications Office (318) 872-4600. All new construction, including placement of mobile homes, must obtain a health permit from the DeSoto Parish Health Unit (318) 872-0472. There will be a fee assessed by the 911 Office for this permit number. All new connects must obtain an Institute for Building Technology & Safety permit (IBTS) by calling (318) 872-0738.

For information to obtain service within the Toledo Bend Reservoir, contact the Sabine River Authority (318)256-4112.

Grant Parish - Must have a 911 address and permit number from the Grant Parish 911 Office(318) 627-3261. All new construction, including placement of mobile homes, must obtain a permit from the Grant Parish Permit Office (318) 627-3041. A permit is needed from the Grant Parish Police Jury when setting a pole in road right of way (318) 627-3157.

 Natchitoches - For information concerning mobile home placement, new residential, commercial, and industrial development, first contact the Natchitoches Parish Health Unit (318) 357-2266, then contact the Natchitoches Parish Planning and Zoning Office (318) 352-2714. All new construction including temporary to permanent within the city limits of Natchitoches must also contact Juanita Fowler with the City of Natchitoches (318) 357-3840 for authorization for electrical service.

 Permits are not required for reconnects except in the Village of Natchez. Contact Town Hall (318) 352-1414.

 The villages of Provencal, Robeline, Clarence, Goldonna, and Powhatan are exempt from permits.

A permit is needed when moving a mobile home into an existing mobile home park.

Red River Parish - A Utility Permit is required for every application. Contact the Tax Assessor's office at (318) 932-4922.                                                                                                                                                             

All new construction including residential, commercial and the placement of a mobile home must obtain a health permit from the Red River Parish Health Unit. Contact Mr. James Smith at (318) 932-4087. All new connects must obtain an Institute for Building Technology & Safety permit (IBTS) by calling (318) 932-5719.

Sabine Parish - Every application must have a 911 address and permit number. Contact the Sabine Parish 911 Office (318) 256-0009. There will be a fee assessed by the 911 Office for this permit number.

All new construction and all mobile homes, new connects and reconnects,  must obtain a permit from the Sabine Parish Health Unit (318) 256-4105.

 For information to obtain service within the Toledo Bend Reservoir, contact the Sabine River Authority (318)256-4112.

 Vernon Parish - Every application requires a 911 address and permit number. Contact the Vernon Parish 911 Office (337) 238-9911.

All reconnects and new construction, including placement of mobile homes, requires a health permit. Contact the Vernon Parish Health Unit  (337) 238-6410) and a building permit from the Vernon Parish Police Jury (337) 239-9933.

 Winn Parish - Every application for electric service must secure a permit. Contact the Winn Parish Police Jury (318) 628-5824.
